Jiangsu Liyang Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center
The Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center located in Liyang, Jiangsu Province, is a masterpiece of Kengo Kuma & Associates. This building takes "the integration of nature and technology" as its core design concept, and the building shading system is precisely the key part to realize this concept.
We provided a wing-curtain sunshade system for this project, which adopted a wood-grain fluorocarbon pre-roller coating process, giving the sunshade leaves a warm wood texture and allowing them to coexist harmoniously with the surrounding natural environment. The shading system brings the transmission of sunlight into a dynamic and controllable state - in summer, the intense sunlight is effectively blocked, preventing the indoor environment from overheating. In winter, due to the lower solar altitude Angle, gentle sunlight can penetrate the sunshade leaves into the room, providing a comfortable environment for researchers and also reducing the energy consumption of air conditioning and heating.
In addition, the perforated design of the sunshade system allows the natural landscape outside to seep into the interior, creating an open visual space and alleviating the fatigue from long-term scientific research work. This building not only achieves the goal of green environmental protection, but also becomes a model of the combination of technology and nature.
